MetroPCS doesn’t restrict its customers to a calling plan, which requires them to keep track of minutes. For a flat fee, the user can speak freely without having to worry that she has used more minutes than allowed for the month.
Like other cell phone plans, MetroPCS has a voicemail feature. Once the customer purchases the phone and the plan, she can use the standard recording to let others know she is unavailable. Or, she can personalize her voicemail by recording her own greeting. Once she has established her voicemail she can change the greeting whenever she wants.
Recording Voicemail on a MetroPCS Phone
Dial “1” on the cell phone; then, press “Send”; or hold down the “1” button on the phone. Both options take the user straight to her voicemail. She can also dial her cell phone number from the new phone or from a different phone.
A series of prompts will ensue, which explains how to set up the voicemail for the first time. When accessing the voicemail initially, the user must use the company default password of 9999. The system will prompt her to create her own four-digit password.
The system will also prompt the user when it’s time to record her greeting. It also explains how to listen to the greeting before saving it. Erase and re-record the greeting, if necessary. Save the greeting when satisfied.
Resetting Voicemail on a MetroPCS Phone
If the client has a password but cannot remember it, she can reset it by dialing 611 from her cell phone. The system will ask for the personal security code (eight-digit number which represents the user’s birthday, such as 08121972).
Follow the prompts to reset the password so it defaults to 9999. To re-create a unique password, simply dial “1” from the phone and follow the prompts. Customers can contact the company directly for assistance by dialing 611 from their cell phone.
Tips for Using a MetroPCS Phone
Some plans have taxes attached, which will show on the client’s monthly bill. Service areas, such as California, Georgia and Florida include fees for federal excise tax and certain local taxes.
Some cell phone companies do not disconnect the service until months after the initial balance is due. At this point, the customer has incurred a host of additional charges. A distinct benefit of using a MetroPCS phone is that if the customer forgets–or lacks the ability–to pay her bill, the service is temporarily disconnected until the initial bill is paid.
